प्लेट विवर्तनिकी सिद्धांत (Plate Tectonics Theory): The theory of plate tectonics is the theory related to the movement of continents and oceans. In this the earth is considered to be divided into different plates. Terrestrial rigid land is called plate. The study related to the nature and flow of plates is called plate tectonics.
The theory of plate tectonics was propounded by Morgan and Isaac in 1965. McKenzie, Parker and Holmes are its main supporters.
In the theory of plate tectonics, the Earth's crust has been divided into several plates. These plates are made of lithosphere with a thickness of 100 km and float on the asthenosphere. So far 7 major and 20 minor plates have been detected.

प्लेट विवर्तनिकी सिद्धांत (Plate Tectonics Theory):PLATE TECTONICS THEORY | Types of Plate Margin
प्लेट विवर्तनिकी सिद्धांत (Plate Tectonics Theory):Plate Margins are most important from the geological point of view because earthquakes, volcanoes and other tectonic events take place with their help.
Generally plate Margins are divided into three classes – 1. Constructive Plate Margin – located above the upper facing pillars of two thermal convection waves. From here two plates move in the opposite direction from each other, due to which a rift is formed between the two and the magma of the asthenosphere comes up and a new crust is formed, hence it is called a constructive edge. The movement of plates along this edge is called divergent movement. 2. Destructive Plate Margin - located above the downward column of two thermal convection waves, due to which two plates move towards each other and the heavier plate is thrown below the lighter plate, due to which the crust is destroyed, hence it is called destructive plate edge. This area is called Benni off Zone. 3. Conservative Plate Margin - When two plates move parallel to each other, then such an edge is called a conservative margin. A transform fault is formed on their sides and earthquakes are experienced.
प्लेट विवर्तनिकी सिद्धांत (Plate Tectonics Theory):Reason for Plate Movement
The density of the Earth’s crust is less than that of the asthenosphere.
Convection waves generated in the mantle act as a source of heat for the movement of the plates.
