A Green Paradise: Discovering the Living Rainforest

Step into the Living Rainforest, and you’ll find yourself transported into a world of verdant beauty. The air is thick with humidity, and the symphony of sounds from tropical birds, cascading waterfalls, and buzzing insects fills your ears. Towering trees with intricate canopies cast dappled sunlight on the forest floor, where an array of vibrant plant life thrives. As you venture deeper into the rainforest, you’ll encounter a multitude of ecosystems, each teeming with life and offering a captivating glimpse into the delicate balance of nature.

Biodiversity Galore: A Haven for Flora and Fauna

The Living Rainforest is a biodiversity hotspot, brimming with an astonishing array of plant and animal species. The forest floor is adorned with an assortment of ferns, orchids, and bromeliads, while towering trees such as the mighty kapok and majestic mahogany create a majestic canopy overhead. Colorful butterflies flit through the air, monkeys swing from branch to branch, and exotic birds like the resplendent quetzal and toucans fill the forest with their vibrant plumage and melodious calls. The dedicated team of scientists, researchers, and educators work tirelessly to preserve the rainforest and raise awareness about its importance. Through interactive exhibits, educational programs, and outreach initiatives, they aim to inspire visitors to become stewards of the environment, promoting sustainable practices and fostering a deeper understanding of our interconnectedness with nature.

Your Role in Protecting Rainforests

Visiting or supporting the Living Rainforest is just one way to contribute to rainforest conservation efforts. Here are a few more steps you can take:

  • Learn and educate: Educate yourself and others about the importance of rainforests and the threats they face. Share your knowledge and encourage sustainable practices in your community.
  • Support sustainable products: Choose products made from sustainable resources and avoid those linked to deforestation, such as palm oil.
  • Reduce, reuse, and recycle: Adopt eco-friendly habits in your daily life to reduce your environmental footprint.

  1. Exam Format: The UGC NET exam is conducted in two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) format.
  2. Paper 1: This is a common paper for all candidates and consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) designed to test the candidates’ teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, and general awareness. The total duration of Paper 1 is 3 hours.
  3. Paper 2: Paper 2 is subject-specific and includes 100 MCQs based on the subject chosen by the candidate. This paper evaluates the candidates’ in-depth knowledge of their chosen subject. The total duration of Paper 2 is 3 hours.
  4. Marking Scheme: Each correct answer in both papers carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION CUT OFF

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION CUT OFF | The UPSC exam refers to the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. It is a highly competitive examination held annually to select candidates for various civil service positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other central services.

The exam consists of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and the Personality Test (Interview). It assesses a candidate’s aptitude, knowledge, and skills in a wide range of subjects and is known for its rigorous selection process.

UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION CUT OFF

The UPSC cut-off marks are of significant importance in the Civil Services Examination. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Selection of Candidates: The cut-off marks determine which candidates qualify for the next stage of the examination. Only those who score above the cut-off are eligible to appear for the Main Examination and the subsequent stages.
  2. Competition Level: The cut-off marks reflect the level of competition in the exam. The UPSC exam is highly competitive, and the cut-off serves as a benchmark that indicates the minimum standard required to qualify.
  3. Merit-based Selection: The cut-off ensures a fair and merit-based selection process. It helps in identifying the most deserving candidates based on their performance rather than arbitrary selection.
  4. Category-wise Allocation: The UPSC exam has separate cut-off marks for different categories (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc.). This ensures fair representation and reservation as per the government norms.
  5. Eligibility for Services: The cut-off marks determine whether a candidate is eligible for the desired service or not. Different services have their own specific cut-off requirements, and candidates must meet the prescribed criteria to be considered for those services.

Overall, the cut-off marks play a crucial role in determining the success of candidates in the UPSC examination and the subsequent allocation of services. Cut off is available on official website of UPSC .

Tropical Cyclones and Their Distribution

tropical cyclone

Tropical Cyclones and Their Distribution. Tropical Cyclones are Low Pressure system in which turbulent wind blows. tropical cyclones typhoons , hurricanes and tornadoes are different names of tropical cyclones according to different regions. Typhoons in China sea; Tropical Cyclones or super cyclones in Indian Ocean; Hurricanes in Caribbean sea; willy-willies in north western Australia.

What is type tropical cyclone?

Tropical cyclone are defined by their region of origin. As the name indicated they are formed in tropical region around the globe. There are two types of cylcones first one is tropical cyclone and later one is temperate cyclone. Unlike temperate cyclone tropical cyclone does not contain warm front and cold front nor it contains warm airmass or cold air mass. It is developed from warm sea water’s latent heat and coriolis force in tropical areas between 5N to 25 N and 5S to 25S in both hemisphere.

How a tropical cyclone is formed?

Initial Formation

The formation and initial development of a cyclonic storm depends upon the transfer of water vapour and latent heat from the warm ocean water to the air, by evaporation from the sea surface.

It encourages formation of vertical cumulus clouds due to convection with condensation of rising air above the ocean surface.

Mature Stage

When a tropical storm escalate, the air rises in vigorous thunderstorms and tends to spread out horizontally at the tropopause. Once air spreads out, a high pressure at high levels is produced, which stimulates the downward motion of air due to convection.

With the inducement of subsidence, air warms up by compression and a warm  Low pressure centre  is generated which is called Eye of Cyclone.

Decay

A tropical cyclone begins to weaken after its landfall or when it passes over cold waters.

Distribution

Temperature Inversion
Temperature Inversion. Normally, the temperature decreases by 6.5 °C per 1000 meters of height with increase in altitude, when this order of temperature decline is reversed, it is called Thermal Inversion. In case of thermal inversion, there is an increase in temperature with increase in altitude.

During the long winter nights, the Earth's surface gets extremely cold due to intense terrestrial radiation, as a result of which the air coming in contact with it also starts cooling and the lower atmosphere becomes cold while the upper atmosphere remains relatively warm.

This condition of thermal inversion becomes more effective in the condition of clear sky, dry air and slow breeze. It is responsible for dense fogs. This fog creates hindrance in traffic.

Due to terrestrial radiation in mountain valleys, the upper parts of the mountains cool down rapidly and the air that comes in contact with them also cools down. This cold air descends with the help of slope and fills in the valleys, these are called katabatic winds. When the warm air of the valley floor rises, it is called anabatic wind.

Due to thermal inversion, settlements in mountainous areas are settled on the slopes of mountains. The fog produced by thermal inversion protects the coffee crop from strong rays. temperature inversion.temperature inversion is.in a temperature inversion.
